Niagara Association of Homebrewers
NHC 2010

A group of NAH members attended the 32nd annual National Homebrewers Conference.  The 5 member group was sponsored by Niagara Tradition Homebrew Supply (http://niagarabrewers.org).  Todd Snyder assembled the group from the membership which included Joe Nardecchia, Keith Curtachio and Bert and Ian Dyster.

We brewed 13 - 10 gallon batches and a 5 gallon batches for the event.  The styles spanned the full spectrum of beer styles.

  • American Wheat (Available with Loganberry)
  • Octoberfest
  • Belgian Wit
  • Foreign Extra Stout
  • German Pillsner
  • American Pale Ale
  • American Brown Ale
  • Russian Imperial Stout
  • Doppelbock
  • American Barleywine
  • Brown Porter
  • Northern English Brown
  • Ordinary Bitter
  • American IPA

We poured all of the beers with the exception of the handpull Ordinary Bitter during the first session of the Hospitality Suite.  All of the beers were well received.  Several homebrewers asked for recipes as well.

Next up was the Club Night.  We set up our booth with two custom 7-tap pouring stations made from Oak Whiskey barrels.  In addition there was a beer engine for the Ordinary Bitter.  Along with the beer, we brought a taste of Buffalo, deconstructed chicken wings.  The "wings" were a big hit.  In addition to the beer and wings we had a "Barrel over the Falls" photo booth where other guests could get a souvenir photo taken.  Over 100 photos were taken throughout the night.  The photos can be seen at the following link.

Overall I think we made a good showing at the NHC for the Niagara Association of Homebrewers.  When the conference next comes to the East cost I can see a larger group able to participate.

Here are some photos from the NHC.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the results from the competition.  We are working to get the results posted on the site along with the list of our sponsors for the event.  Homebrew competitions are run by volunteers and this year there were circumstances that slowed us up a bit in different areas.  We will have the results posted over the next few days.

If you would like to volunteer to assist in the 15th annual competition, please join the organizing committee when it reconvenes in the fall.

We need YOU to make a great competition.
